Wet Plate Portraits

Wet Plate Portraits.

Images on Glass.

These Amryotypes, also known as a collodion positive photograph, are made through preparing "a wet plate", using various chemicals which are poured on glass. The plate then goes into a large-format camera, and an image is created, resulting in a photograph on glass.

The texture and whole feel of these images are so incredibly different from the quality of digital imagery, it is refreshing and satisfying, but takes a lot of patience!

It s an intricate process of preparing, taking, and processing but it is absolute magic.

I am currently setting myself up to experiment more with this way of photographing, so watch this space!
